About us

Welcome to the homepage of the Joliot-Curie-Gymnasium Görlitz! Thank you for your interest in our school.

Our grammar school generally has three classes and currently has around 560 pupils. Over 40 dedicated teachers are constantly working to offer our students the best possible education.

We offer special programs for our 5th graders, such as class music-making, in which each child learns to play their own instrument. Pupils and their parents can look forward to performances such as the Advent concert and our music lesson.

Our grammar school offers the opportunity to learn three foreign languages: Latin, French and Polish. One class per year begins the second foreign language Latin in Year 5, so that students have the opportunity to acquire their Latinum after Year 9.

In order to promote the individual strengths of our pupils, we offer various profiles in Years 8 to 10. These include the sports profile and the modular profile with topics such as "From seed to plant", applied sciences, equal opportunities and business English.

In addition to our wide range of lessons, we organize numerous school trips such as the introductory trip to Hainewalde for Year 5 and the ski camp for Year 8. In the upper secondary level, we offer specialist excursions.
A highlight of the school year is the annual Joliot Curie Week, during which we honour the patron saint of our school and organize various scientific activities.

Following the complete refurbishment in 2014, our school now has modern equipment. Digital media such as interactive whiteboards, tablets and Wi-Fi help to make our lessons versatile and future-oriented.

As we know that school is not just about lessons, we offer numerous all-day activities (GTA), including Lego robots, paddling, pottery, our school band and the GTA Soundcheck program.

We invite you to become part of our school community and to spend an exciting and educational time with us!
