Climate school - We are part of it!
The 9th Saxon Climate School Conference took place at the end of January 2026 - and we are delighted that our grammar school was officially recognized as a climate school at this conference.
Under the motto "Have your say. Join in. Help shape - for our climate!", around 250 participants from all over Saxony came together. The discussions focused on questions such as: How can climate protection be specifically implemented in everyday school life? How can pupils take responsibility, develop their own ideas and make lasting changes to their school - voluntarily, practically and with an impact beyond the classroom?
The conference, sponsored by the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Climate Protection and the Saxon State Ministry of Culture, impressively demonstrates that early participation strengthens responsibility and teaches future skills. At present, many initiatives are primarily supported by the extracurricular commitment of our pupils.
Projects that our pupils are pursuing include: the healthy fruit break in cooperation with the Görlitzer Stadtgut, various waste collection campaigns, the construction of insect hotels, the school garden and the environmental working group.
In the future, we want to integrate sustainability even more strongly into our lessons. Planned projects include the purchase of a photovoltaic system that can also be used didactically in physics lessons - we are looking for partners who can support us financially.
Many thanks to our dedicated climate school team and to all pupils, teachers and cooperation partners - together we are shaping a sustainable school culture!
