Berlin - Handball - Highlights: Our way to the national final
After strong handball performances in the regional final in January and a successful state final in Pulsnitz in March, the time had finally come: our team was able to represent Joliot-Curie-Gymnasium Görlitz at the spring final of Jugend trainiert für Olympia in Berlin - a huge success for us and an unforgettable experience.
In the capital, we competed against the best school teams in Germany in handball. We played with great team spirit, commitment and passion - and ended up in a strong 4th place. Particularly noteworthy: five of our players came straight from Stralsund as runners-up in the TEAMWORK Cup of Champions and had a very intense weekend of sport in their legs. But there was no sign of this on the pitch - our team consistently put in top performances. We only lost to the teams that finished in 1st to 3rd place - that says it all!
We were accommodated at the Aletto Hotel am Kudamm, which provided us with delicious food and a great atmosphere. In addition to the games, there was also time to discover the city. During a city rally, we explored sights such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin TV Tower - a real highlight.

But what we liked best at the end of the tournament was the big closing ceremony in the impressive Füchse Arena Berlin. All the participants were celebrated there once again - a worthy end to a great tournament.
At the end, Ms. Täschner invited us for an ice cream to celebrate her birthday - a wonderful moment together.
We were looked after by Ms. Täschner and Mr. Lüdtke, whom we would like to thank for their support - without them, the trip would not have been possible!
There were: Tine Adam, Lisa Dittmar, Elina Friedrich, Lena Glatzel, Miriya Hartmann, Jule Jährmann, Florentine Kugler, Marie Pehler, Charlotte Tesch, Anna Tillack and Sinfonie Zubrod. Apart from Tine (HC Rödertal), they all play for Görlitzer HC.
We are proud to have represented the Joliot-Curie-Gymnasium Görlitz at this great tournament - with sporting success, team spirit and lots of lasting memories!
